Course Overview:
The Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (England) is for learners who work in, or who want to work in the Adult Social Care sector in England. It gives learners the opportunity to develop and demonstrate competence in leadership roles within either a Social Care or children and young people’s services setting. It develops technical skills and knowledge and understanding related to specified job roles in health and social care or children and young people’s services such as understanding safeguarding, managing health and safety risks and partnership working.

The qualification contains units which are competence based and several knowledge based. It fulfils the regulatory requirement for those looking to become managers of children's homes or adults residential and domiciliary services.

Entry Requirements: You don’t need any formal qualifications to enrol on this course. Completion of the level 3 Diploma in Adult Care / Childcare is recommended. Working as or towards a management position. Learners will need to produce full and articulate answers to questions. Learners will need to have a good standard of written and verbal communication skills.

    Additional optional units selected based on your preferences. It has six pathways – three for those working with adults and three for those working with children and young people.

  • The qualification will be assessed by a portfolio of evidence. We’ll assess your practical skills and workplace performance. Your personal assessor will also visit you at work or conduct observation’s Personal Discussions via Teams to review your progress towards the qualifications.

    All assessments need to be passed, and each will directly assess the knowledge, skills and behaviours of the diploma standard.
